Ganieda Sanctuary
Ganieda
Sanctuary was purchased as an undeveloped bush block by Kennan Taylor
in 1991. 15 kilometres West of Albany, Ganieda straddles a ridge with
views to a large lake and the coastal reserve of the Great Southern Ocean.
Over the years the property has been landscaped and developed with the
addition of three buildings. One is a group and conference centre, another
a chalet that is anticipated to be used for residential purposes, and
a third is the Taylor family home.
Ganieda
is secluded and very private, and the predominantly natural bush offers
a haven for bird and some wildlife. It has always been the intention that
Ganieda be used as a residential retreat, and this is now in progress
with the necessary planning well underway and the potential for further
bush chalets and environmentally sensitive development.
Over the years Ganieda has been used for residential groups,
occasional seminars and conferences. Private individuals have also come
here to take advantage of the features of the property, which are used
for ritual and therapeutic purposes. The wider environment of the Albany
and associated regions have also be sourced, and are often used as part
of these functions. There remains some limited capacity for individual
stays and seminars whilst improvements are underway.
Kennan
has used Ganieda for professional work, mainly the counselling and psychotherapy
aspects, and has also been involved in residential therapeutic and educational
groups here, by himself and in association with other professionals. These
also remain available, and are structured toward demand.
The above services extend to further professional developmental
programmes.
They are supported online by Foundations of Healing (a
6-10 week certificate course) and Traditional Medicine Ways (a 2 year
diploma).
